Illustration Friday
(Click to Enlarge) Its been a rough couple weeks, and I haven't participated in Illustration Friday in a while. It helps keep my mind out of bad places by poking around Photoshop. This weeks word is Nourishment - and I could argue IceCream gives me all I need.

Grace Alice

Yesterday my Grandmother Passed away. Her name was Grace and she was 83 years old. She left behind a legacy of 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. My grandfather Edward had passed away back in 1986. 19 years she's lived without him. There is a welcoming embrace somewhere between them today. We will all miss her presence in the family, but we all take a part of her with us. She has left an impression on us that we will hand down to our kids, and then to theirs. Sometimes it doesn't matter what mountain a person climbs or what car a person drives. Sometimes it is just the accumulation of caring and giving over a lifetime that leaves us to always remember..

Nana
(Click to enlarge)I held her hand for a while as she woke from her deep sleep. She looked up at me and gave a squeeze. The waiting room had emptied. I was alone, staring at the glue that holds this family together, that brings us together, and that cares for us all individually. Her vitals looked good, and she fell back asleep. I kissed her on her forehead and left so she could rest. Please lord keep her comfortable and strong. (Thank you Jeremy for the encouragement)
Torn
Wanted: Hours in the day. I spent 8 hours on my final sculpture tonight. The security guard interrupted me with a call at the main office. My grandmother is in the hospital and they say they can not do anything else to help her. Family members are gathering to show their love. i so badly want spend the night in the hospital with her. But I had to complete my teaching script for tomorrows lesson plan. Final Crit is tomorrow for scupture too. Then I will be heading up to see her. I must get some rest. 15 2nd graders await their art class, and the take a lot of energy to keep up with. Lord, Please watch over my grandmother and keep her comfortable.
